This workshop is about understanding the different weaving methods and types of looms, from primitive to industrial size floor looms.
Learn about sheep wool, how it is grown, harvested, & processed into yarn and how our different certified organic breeds produce different types and grades of wool. Learn how to create unique woven textile pieces on handmade peg looms using a range of wool materials.

Wool Lighting
Spend the day learning about wool and creating a unique light for your home. Wool filters and diffuses light beautifully and is naturally fire retardant.
Learn about the processing of wool from sheep to usable fibre. Making a sheet of wool fabric from scratch is the next step, which is used to make a unique lampshade. After a delicious lunch you will finish your lampshade by mounting the wool onto a frame ready to use on a base.

An introduction to the world of felting. An ancient craft dating back to 6500 BC, where no glues or chemicals are used, just soap, warm water and our hands.
The ultimate example of sustainable and environmentally conscious textile making, felting can be used to create so many different items with different colours, densities, and textures.
Learn about sheepwool production and harvesting from farm to fibre, and using wool from the certified organic flock on the farm. Felt your own beautiful, handmade unique wild wool collar to wear, or a fluffy, comfortable, breathable seat pad to use at home.

Opportunities for potential products and activities for those looking to develop a wool based business or hobby will be discussed while learning about fibre farming. You will experience hands-on raw wool being prepared from sheep to fibre and how it can be used to felt & weave beautiful textile home products.
